Nicolas Hautier advises many groups and SMEs on defining their intellectual property strategy.
Heavily involved in the protection and valuation of public sector research, Nicolas Hautier’s important clients include prestigious research laboratories, many university laboratories as well as technology transfer companies.
He is involved in many technical fields, especially microelectronics and nanotechnologies (FinFET transistors, FDSOI, silicon photonics, lithography processes, photodiodes, epitaxial growth and III-V materials etc.).
He also deals with many applications in the fields of physics, mechanics (construction, sport, robotics) and energy (photovoltaic, nuclear, thermodynamics and storage) for industrial companies or research laboratories.
Professional Appointments
He is regularly called upon by institutes (INPI, IHEDN) and business support structures (CCI, Incubators) to conduct conferences on patents. He also offers several courses in patents for engineering schools, business schools and master’s degree programmes in IP.
Nicolas HAUTIER is very involved with the EPI (European Patent Institut), the association for European representatives from all over Europe. He has been elected to the European Patent Practice Committee (EPPC), which is responsible in particular for improving the European Patent Convention and working in collaboration with the EPO. He has also been elected as a substitute member of the EPI Council, the EPI’s governing body, whose influence with the EPO allows it to promote the recommendations of professional representatives.
Career
After first gaining experience in the industrial property department of a large company, Nicolas Hautier worked at a major industrial property consultancy in Paris. Nicolas Hautier also gained solid expertise in the energy sector in Denmark then in California, working on a US Department of Energy (DOE) programme at Berkeley National Laboratory. </ strong>He joined Cabinet HAUTIER in 2006.
