Jean-Pascal Decobert advises corporations on microelectronics, digital communication and mechanical engineering.

He is also specialized in the protection of computer implemented inventions and business methods both in Europe and the United States. In the electronic industry, he advises clients specialized in OLEDs, devices integrating optical features or MEMS sensors.

Jean-Pascal Decobert assists his clients in defining their intellectual property strategy, he handles procedures for obtaining IP rights and deals with disputes and any litigation before the European or French Offices (EPO, OHIM, INPI).

He handles opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office in Munich for French and international companies, notably in the field of finance and business methods. He has a particularly high rate of success in this domain. Jean -Pascal Decobert is also a member of AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property , FICPI ( international association of leaders of firms and industrial property) and LES ( Licensing Executive Society).


Jean-Pascal Decobert acquired his first research experience at the National Aerospace Design and Research Office as specialist in computer based modelisation of composite materials. He then turned towards industrial property in a specialized private practice at Lille in France. He has been with Cabinet Hautier since 1998.
Jean-Pascal Decobert also lectures in intellectual property at the IEEPI (Insitut Européen Entreprise et Propriété Intellectuelle), the Sophia Antipolis Polytechnic University and the Professional University Institute and regularly gives conferences in IP related matters.
