History

The Office Méditerranéen de Brevets d’Invention (OMBI), subsequently renamed Cabinet Hautier, was created in 1892 and is one of the oldest and most respected IP firms in France and Monaco.

Today, Nicolas Hautier and Jean-Pascal Decobert, lead a team counting 12 members including attorneys and engineers specialized in IP law.

Our two offices are situated in Nice and in the well-known Sophia Antipolis technology and science park. More precisely our office in Sophia Antipolis is located just in front of the Sophia Antipolis branch of the French Patent Office (INPI). Our office in Nice is ideally located to represent our client before the Monegasque Patent and Trademark office.

Additionally, we are located only 15 minutes away from Nice Riviera International Airport, meaning that we can easily reach major cities throughout the world, in particular the European Patent Office in Munich and the European Trademarks & Designs Office (OHIM) in Alicante, Spain.

In addition to advising clients, we also intervene as lecturers in IP for Universities and conferences. We have also contributed for many years to international reference manuals used by professionals, such as the Katzarov’s manual.

Our patent and trademark attorneys have contributed to normative changes in the IP field of Monaco. We have been consulted in the revision of IP Law and will further contribute to future developments.
